Shannon Hateley is a biologist using genomics methods to understand organismal response to climate change. Prior to coming to Carnegie, she was a senior staff scientist at Ancestry. Dr. Hateley obtained her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of California, Berkeley, with a designated emphasis in Computational and Genomics Biology. She has worked both at lab bench and computationally studying gene expression, building bioinformatics tools, and characterizing human traits and disease. Dr. Hateley also holds a B.A. from St. John’s College where she studied the Great Books. She spends her free time with her dog, tinkering, and organizing for climate justice.
